ICE (Immigration Customs and enforcement) recently announced that those school who will offer “only” online classes due to covid19 will have to notify their international students to go back home. It’s unclear if students can take online classes while in different countries and if the tuition fee is less due to online activities.
After the announcement, the international students’ community of UCF has fought themselves in a bit of immigration dilemma. If the students don’t return to their home country they will most probably be detained and prosecuted and deported, which is likely a slap in the face, as many international students are pursuing college degrees in the respective position.
Because of International students, UCF gets more than 100 million in tuition, grant, research per year.
On top of that, many countries have restricted travel from the United States.
Many people are saying the recent decision by ICE is nothing but a reflection of the Anti-immigration movement of Trump administration.
