ORLANDO, FLORIDA: With the emerge of new species of coronavirus also known as the “U.K. variant,” B.1.1.7, the government is considering restrictions in visiting certain states including Florida.

A few governments require testing and a negative result prior to flying, recently enacted by the Canadian government for their residents returning from the United States.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and CDC Director Rochelle Walensky have said they are examining the chance of such prerequisites on domestic flights within the United States.

“There are active conversations about what could help mitigate spread here, but we have to follow the data and what’s going to work. We did this with South Africa, we did this with Brazil, because we got clear guidance,” one White House official said.

“But we’re having conversations about anything that would help mitigate spread. No decisions have been made, but we certainly are having conversations across the government. This is a war and we’re at battle with the virus. War is messy and unpredictable, and all options are on the table”, the officials added.
