22-year-old Clermont man struck and killed by an SUV in Sumter County

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a man was fatally struck by an SUV while walking in Sumter County on Thursday.

The records show the driver of the SUV was heading eastbound on State Road 50, west of County Road 751 around 4 a.m. The SUV hit the man who was walking in the roadway at the time.

The victim was a 22-year-old man from Clermont. Troopers said the victim got severely injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has not been released. The driver of the SUV got minor injuries.

No details about the charges to be held have not been released. The Florida Highway Patrol is doing the investigation.

76-year-old arrested on child porn charges in The Villages

According to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, a man is accused of possessing and distributing child pornography in The Villages.

The 76-year-old John Thomas Nolan was arrested from his home. As per the records, the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a cyber tip in September about the possible distribution of child pornography.

Investigators said a nearly two-month investigation led to a warrant being executed at John Thomas Nolan’s home on Bokeelia Place in The Villages on Friday.

Deputies said Nolan was arrested on three counts of distribution of child pornography and seven counts of possession of child pornography.

42-year-old woman is missing in Sumter County

According to Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, a 42-year-old Sumter County woman is missing and endangered.

Jamie Pettit, 42, was last seen driving a black and red color golf cart.

Pettit is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall with blue eyes. She has blond hair. Pettit is known to frequent the areas of The Villages, Lady Lake, and Summerfield.
