2 men shot semi-truck driver in St. Augustine

ST. AUGUSTINE, FLORIDA: The reports say the on Monday a semitruck driver was shot near a St. Johns County. Police said the truck was traveling on Interstate 95.

According to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, they received call before 1 p.m. Officials responded to the northbound I-95 rest area just north of County Road 210.

Initally, the shooting report says a person who was sitting in a vehicle was shot at the rest area. However, later it was confirmed that the person was shot on the interstate.

Two men were inside a gray or silver sedan. The car pulled up alongside and the men fired shots at the semitruck. The semi truck was heading north on I-95.

The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office’s spokesperson said the driver of the semitruck was  struck in the shoulder. It’s not immediately known whether a single shot was fired or multiple gunshots were fired.

After the shooting, the sedan headed north on I-95 toward Duval County. The report say a woman was sitting was sleeping in the back part of the semitruck. The woman was identified as the girlfriend of the semitruck’s driver. Later the woman called 911 and the her boyfriend was airlifted to a Jacksonville hospital.

“I don’t know what to do,” she said. “It’s sort of scary. I mean, he’s all I got.”

“I just couldn’t wrap my head around it. I still can’t even wrap my head around it. Why or who would even want to do this because he hasn’t tried to fight with anybody since we been out here,” she added. “It’s scary because you don’t have the answers about any of this that’s going on, and people with guns think that it’s all a game. It’s not a game. It’s not just his life that they’re messing with, it’s mine too.”

The investigation is ongoing.

ST. AUGUSTINE, FLORIDA: The Florida Highway Patrol said a fatal crash in St. Johns County left a man dead. Records show two cars were involved in the crash which was driving in opposite directions on A1A.

The crash report says the incident happened around 8:20 on Friday night.

Troopers said the man was driving towards the south. The car that heading north crashed the vehicle head-on.

The man of the first car was pronounced dead at the scene. However, the driver of the second vehicle suffered minor injuries.

Troopers are finding the reason that led to the fatal crash.

The identity of the victims has not been released.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

ST. AUGUSTINE, FLORIDA: The Florida Highway Patrol said a head-on crash on State Road 207 Saturday night left 2 dead and 4 injured.

Records show the deadly crash happened when two pickup trucks collided head-on at around 10 p.m. The reports say the driver of a pickup car, a 31-year-old man, from St. Augustine, was driving north in the southbound lanes. The man was going the wrong way on State Road 207.

Troopers said then it struck the second pickup. There were 5 people inside the second pickup.

The two victims, both women, from Ohio, who were on the second pickup were pronounced dead. Two passengers, including a 2-year-old, along with the driver, all from Jacksonville, suffered injuries.

Troopers said the 31-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries. The investigation was going on at the scene so the southbound lanes of S.R. 207 were closed for hours.

No more details have been released. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

37-year-old motorcyclist killed in crash in St. Augustine

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.: According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a crash that happened before midnight on Monday left a motorcyclist dead.

The reports say the 37-year-old woman died after her motorcycle traveled into the path of an adjacent semi-truck on I-95 northbound after State Road 16.

Troopers said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Records show the motorcyclist was in the left lane then moved into the path of a semi-truck which was in the center lane.

The Florida Highway Patrol is doing the investigation on this deadly crash.
