As per the recently released reports, the 29-year-old Montgomery man accused of sexually assaulting his 10-month-old daughter has now been charged with murder in her death.
The reports say authorities announced first-degree murder charges against Austin Stevens, 29, on Tuesday.
10-month old Zara Scruggs was sexually assaulted and suffered blunt force trauma to her head. On Oct 3 the 10-month-old girl was transporting to Einstein Medical Center. She died at the hospital a short time later.
Records show Austin Stevens’ phone showed multiple Google searches for nearly an hour before calling 911 with subjects that included “If baby stop breathing,” “What if you don’t hear baby heart or beat,” “My baby isn’t breathing,” and “How do you know if a baby is dead.”
Stevens also faces several other charges, including involuntary deviant sexual intercourse, rape of a child, aggravated assault, aggravated indecent assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.
