2 men shot during warehouse party in Orange County

A man in his late 50s and another 29-year-old  was shot in a warehouse party in the 300 block of North Ivey Lane around 5:30 a.m. Sunday. The man in the late 50s was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. However, another man was shot with a non-life-threatening wound.

 

“Detectives’ investigation revealed this incident took place during a large party that was held at that warehouse,” deputies said. “There were more than 100 people at the party and detectives are eager to talk to any witnesses.”  “We as a community have to come together to stop this violence,” said Bakari Burns, the president and CEO of the health center.

Orange County Sheriff’s Office is investigating this shooting. Deputies said, “Detectives and deputies are still on scene as this investigation is active and on-going.”

“Because outside of the violence that might come from these types of activities, there’s also the threat of COVID-19,” Burns, an Orlando city commissioner, said. “We’re talking about 3 to 5 (thousand dollars) worth of damage. Just think about the number of dental services, medical  services that could have been provided with that amount of money.”

Man arrested for killing his wife outside Navy Federal Credit Union in Orlando

Barbara Tommey, 27, was fatally shot near the front door of the Navy Federal Credit Union, investigators say. She was killed by her husband, Sylvester Ofori, 35. This crime happened on Gardens Park Boulevard in Orlando Tuesday morning.

“You can tell that she’s trying to get inside (the credit union). Unfortunately, he shoots her,” Police Chief Orlando Rolon said. “You can tell she was surprised by what was happening.”

The Navy Federal Credit Union released a statement on the shooting:

“This morning, a team member was fatally injured during an act of violence outside our Millenia branch, by a man she knew, according to the police. Our thoughts are with our team member’s family. Our number one priority is keeping both our members and team members safe. We will ensure all team members at the branch are provided with the support they need during this time. Any further information can be provided by the Orlando Police Department.”
