A man in his late 50s and another 29-year-old was shot in a warehouse party in the 300 block of North Ivey Lane around 5:30 a.m. Sunday. The man in the late 50s was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. However, another man was shot with a non-life-threatening wound.
“Detectives’ investigation revealed this incident took place during a large party that was held at that warehouse,” deputies said. “There were more than 100 people at the party and detectives are eager to talk to any witnesses.” “We as a community have to come together to stop this violence,” said Bakari Burns, the president and CEO of the health center.
Orange County Sheriff’s Office is investigating this shooting. Deputies said, “Detectives and deputies are still on scene as this investigation is active and on-going.”
“Because outside of the violence that might come from these types of activities, there’s also the threat of COVID-19,” Burns, an Orlando city commissioner, said. “We’re talking about 3 to 5 (thousand dollars) worth of damage. Just think about the number of dental services, medical services that could have been provided with that amount of money.”
